Amber lights flashed inside the car while he rapped to Rod Wave’s Great Gatsby. Doing ninety in the left lane with the most beautiful woman he’d ever encountered was the perfect night for Hezi. He had been in need of a ride. One that would last for hours while the music took him to a galaxy that felt safe.

Glancing to his right, he looked at the target of his desire. Nyomi’s gaze was fixated on her phone with her feet resting on the edge of the seat. Her hair had been styled in long twists with her baby hair slicked in little swirls. He loved the hairstyle on her. Her beauty was on full display with no makeup. She was an absolute masterpiece that he would constantly thank God for. Hezi didn’t think he could possess this much attraction for a woman, but Nyomi had come and arrested all of his attention.

She was finally all his for the summer. He could pull up on her in fifteen minutes rather than an hour and ten minutes. In the past, Hezi tried pacing himself with Nyomi but now that she was in The Falls, he knew he would abandon that mission.

“I'm trying to collect all the places I want to eat and visit in Diamond Falls,” she announced. “I plan to make this summer a fun one.”

“Yeah, me too.”

Hezi got off on an exit and drove to a McDonald’s. He got himself a strawberry shake and Nyomi a vanilla one. Afterward, he parked in the lot.

“I got you something,” he announced.

Nyomi narrowed her eyes. “Oh yeah? What’s that?”

Hezi reached into his back seat and grabbed a box. When he passed it to her, he watched as her doll-like eyes expanded.

“You did not,” she gushed, taking the top off the box. “Oh, my God! You got me an Alyak purse?”

“Why you acting surprised?”

“Because these bags are worth thousands of dollars.” She pulled the crème-colored purse out and inspected it in silent wonderment. “This is so beautiful.”

“When it comes to you, I don't give a fuck about a price.”

Nyomi smiled at him before reaching over and kissing his lips.

“Thank you.”

“You welcome.”

She sat back in her seat and began transferring items from her current purse into the Alyak bag.

“I’ll probably wear this out the entire summer.” She giggled. “Who should I say got this for me if people ask?”

“Tell ‘em to mind they business.”

“Yeah, you're right. I'm so excited. I haven’t felt this way in a long time,” she revealed. “I'm spending my summer in a new city, I’ll be starting an internship soon, and I got this fly guy who I can’t get enough of.”

Hezi smirked while sipping on his shake. Truthfully, he couldn’t get enough of Nyomi.

“You know, when I stayed at the apartment with Boog, I got to know him a little better and I also learned more about you.”

His eyes narrowed. “Like what?”

“Well.” She placed her purse in the back seat. “I learned you were a big basketball star who had offers from several colleges.
